The EMC at the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry (MMK) in the Arrhenius Laboratory is one of the core facilities at the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University. Electron microscopy has a long tradition at MMK; the first electron microscopes were installed 1974 (see EM-history to find out more). EM at MMK has always been in the frontline in using and developing techniques for using high-resolution electron microscopy and electron diffraction for structural characterisation. Since some years, research also covers method developments in electron energy loss spectroscopy techniques. A large range of materials, from inorganic nanoparticles to biomaterials, are studied.
