The Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry is one of the biggest departments at Stockholm University with about 150 employees and 2,000 students. The teaching focuses on solid state chemistry, materials chemistry and modern characterization techniques. The main research areas are porous materials, bio-based materials and electron microscopy.

Project description

The position will be associated with the project "Functional nanoporous asymmetric polymer membrane-synthesis and application". The project aims to explore novel nanoporous asymmetric poly(ionic liquid) membranes, and use them for smart templates for other membranes.

Main responsibilities

The position covers the synthesis of nanoporous poly(ionic liquid) membranes, and their carbonization at elevated temperature (ca. 1000 oC) to prepare nanoporous carbon membranes. Their structures will be fully characterized and optimized.  

Qualification requirements

Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria

The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.

In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills in conductive polymers, membranes, porous carbons, and electrochemistry.

Terms of employment

The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years, paid by a postdoc scholarship. Start date 1. Nov. 2019 or as per agreement.
