Spinning of the sample holder is possible, with an adjustable spinning rate. The height of the sample holder is accurate to 1 µm. Normal data collection times range from a few minutes to hours.

This powder diffractometer is set in Theta-2Theta geometry and equipped with a focusing Johansson Ge monochromator producing pure Cu-Kα1 radiation. Tube position is fixed while the PIXCEL detector is moving. The sample holder is rotated and accurate within 1 µm sample height position. Data collection times range from minutes to about 10 h for high quality data sets suitable for Rietveld refinements. Only ambient conditions room temperature measurements can be performed.

Absorption correction and visualization of crystals at different orientations can be done by recording a set of images with the attached CCD camera.
