The instrument uses a beam balance that balances the measuring rod plus sample and a counter-weight. The TG performance is modest due the large weight of the measuring rod. Large sample weights are possible but are normally about 50 mg. The DTA signal is given from three Pt/Pt-Rh thermocouple junctions in between and under the positions of the sample and reference crucibles.

Capabilities/Accessories

Several kinds of different rods may be considered: (i) a TG rod with a flat platform which may be used for larger samples, (ii) TG-DTA rods optimized for temperatures up to 800, 1200 and 1600°C, (iii) DSC type rods with a metal plate with housings for sample and reference for temperatures up to 800, 1200 and 1600°C. Crucibles are available in Al2O3 and Pt, 20-100 µl, and Al, 160 µl, with either flat bottoms or formed to fit upon the TG-DTA rods. The Al crucibles can be crimped to keep a vapour right above the sample. At the moment we only have one 1600°C TG-DTA rod and a few corresponding 100 µl Al2O3 and Pt crucibles.

Recharge Rates

MMK users:  50 kr/h without operator, 400 kr/h with operator and/or evaluation
Academic users: 100 kr/h without operator, 400 kr/h with operator and/or evaluation
Commercial users: 500-1000 kr per sample

Fee for traning/configurations:

MMK users 250 SEK/h, external academic uers 500 SEK/h, commercial users 1000 SEK/h.
