About us

The department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry is located in the Arrhenius Laboratory on the main Frescati campus of Stockholm University just north of the Stockholm city centre. The Frescati campus is located in the northern section of the magnificent Djurgården national park (map).

The department today hosts about 150 people, and we are one of the biggest chemistry departments at Stockholm University. The chemistry section, including the department, moved from Kungsstensgatan 45 to our current location in the Arrhenius laboratory in 1973.

The staff is made up of a mixture of professors, researchers and students. 

The department staff gathered outside the Magneli hall.

 

 

We have a multi-cultural workplace with people from four continents of the world from countries like Pakistan, Slovakia, USA, China and Denmark, making the department a vivid place to work with many cultures meeting.

The many different cultures is most obvious during lunches.
