GreenCarbon provides career development and training opportunities for 14 researchers who are in the first 4 years of their research careers (Early-Stage Researchers, ESRs).

Xia Wang’s research focuses on porous carbon, and the ability of its nano-sized pores to adsorb carbon dioxide. Her work involves preparing tailor-made porous carbon, trying to optimise the adsorption properties. A possible future application would be to eliminate carbon dioxide from flue gases, as a means to deal with global warming.

Since 2017, Xia Wang has been doing her PhD at the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Stockholm University. Her PhD project is part of GreenCarbon, an EU-programme for developing the use of biomass-derived carbons for advanced applications, including carbon dioxide capture.
